JOSIE MORRIS TRAIL

Highlights

  • Tour available 7 days a week, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM

  • April-November

  • 1-4 passengers

Full Description- Your guide will meet you at your hotel or at the Jensen Bridge in Jensen, Utah*. We will start by crossing the Green River and in just a few miles we will descend a steep sand hill (we like to call it “Butt Pucker Hill”) straight to the edge of a 50-foot cliff. It’s a great way to get your adrenalin pumping! Then as we drive on the red rock sandstone cliff ledge, you’ll get the opportunity to see our version of a famous extra terrestrial. The scenery is so beautiful as we work our way to the petroglyph wall called “The Basketball Team”. Because of it’s location few people get the opportunity to see it and as a result it is in pristine condition. We will follow deep chasms, cross slickrock, get “tweaky” a few times, and finally go on the best sand roller coaster ride you’ve ever had on four wheels. When we get to our destination, a short hike down a rock slit will take you back in time. Going down and back up the rock slit does take some effort and includes some tricky footing. Make sure to wear good shoes… flip flops won’t make it. (Please read Important Information below.) As we leave, take a moment to look at the view. This includes Blue Mountain, Split Mountain, and the box canyon where the infamous Josie Morris built her cabin and entertained Butch Cassidy.

Extend your fun!

Do you have an extra hour? Add a short hike to see ACTUAL dinosaur tracks. It is SO worth your time. Where else can you see dinosaur tracks so well preserved you can still see the claws? Check out the photo below. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION Please be aware that this hike can be strenuous. Although less than 1.0-mile round trip, the hike consists of uneven surfaces, sand, and short but steep slick rock sections. Please discuss any health or balance concerns with your guide before booking this hike.

Are you visiting Dinosaur National Quarry Monument? Our tour is a great compliment to your trip to the Quarry. You could start or end your day with a visit to the Quarry to see the wall of over 1500 dinosaur bones. Then come with us to see ancient petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks. We can meet you at the *Jensen Bridge. It is just a few miles away from the quarry and will save you a drive back into town.
